Azul Summer Pavilion Game
Use Green, Blue, Red, Yellow, Orange and Purple tiles to create star shaped patterns in this beautiful Summer Pavilion version of the Azul Game. In this game, there are six rounds of play with one of each of the different colors being wild each round. Player boards contain star-shaped designs with segments numbered 1-6. Scoring counters are located on the main board to keep track of round-end and game-end points.
Players take turns drawing colored tiles from the display area until no tiles are left. Next, players position these tiles on matching colored star segments on their player boards based on the number of tiles they have drawn in each color this round. The wild color for the current round adds value to any other color. There is a seventh star in the center of the player board, which players try to fill with six different colored tiles. Each time a tile segment is placed on a colored star, points are earned based on how many adjacent tile segments there are on the board in that star’s color. There are bonuses awarded when players can surround different symbols with tiles. These bonuses entitle players to draw up to 10 additional tiles from the main board.
Once six rounds are complete, points are awarded for completed stars and for covering all of any of the six numbers on a player board. The person with the most points wins the game. Summer Pavilion offers the opportunity to strategize with an ever-changing tile supply. Managing resources in a changing pool of tiles each round builds on the ability to use both short-term and long-term strategies and observe opponents’ actions to claim tiles that are advantageous to them. Summer Pavilion is a delight for two to four players with a 30 to 45-minute game time. I have really enjoyed my experience with this game and I look forward to sharing it with family and friends. ~Marsha
At the turn of the 16th Century, King Manuel I commissioned Portugal's greatest artisans to construct grandiose buildings. After completing the Palaces of Evora and Sintra, the king sought to build a summer pavilion to honor the most famous members of the royal family. This construction was intended for the most talented artisans — whose skills meet the splendor that the royal family deserves. Sadly, King Manuel I died before construction ever began.
In Azul: Summer Pavilion, players return to Portugal to accomplish the task that never began. As a master artisan, you must use the finest materials to create the summer pavilion while carefully avoiding wasting supplies. Only the best will rise to the challenge to honor the Portuguese royal family.
