Will do the job It is still better than nothing.
I bought the tube to store my metal tin whistle (a musical instrument), not paint brushes. I would have liked the plastic to be a little firmer and lock in more than two places. I did like that it was expandable and semi clear to see inside.

Yes, the lid does lock tight.
Is it made of a firm plastic or soft and bendable?
It is silicone type material with some bend to it.
