George vs. George
This unique book tells the story of the American Revolution from both the British and American side, specifically focusing on George Washington and King George III. The book shares how similar the two men were and how events escalated to cause the war. It changes between sharing historical events from the British point of view to sharing them from the colonist point of view. Captivating text shares about how the different governments worked, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill, fighting strategies of both sides, the Declaration of Independence, different battles, the founding of America, and what happened to both Georges after the war. While highlighting the important parts of the war, the book shows what drove each George to make the decisions he did. Full-color, detailed paintings illustrate each page, exemplifying the story and drawing readers in. The illustrations include characters with speech balloons sharing quotes from real people of the time period. This book tells the basic causes, events, and ending of the Revolutionary War while showing that there are two sides to every story. A fascinating, innovative look at a war from long ago and two men deeply involved in it. 60 pgs, pb, by Rosalyn Schanzer. ~ Rachel
Beautiful Feet curriculum takes a multi-level, living book approach to teaching history, geography and world cultures, using easy to use Guides for the teacher and engaging, well-written literature for the student. The Guides provide book lists, chapter readings, discussion and research questions, background information, website links, answer keys, and more. See our website for lists of literature resources to accompany each guide. Most guides provide content for one year of study, with the exception of Geography through Literature and Western Expansion. The latter two are recommended to be completed together for one year of study. Numbers of lessons vary, and are scheduled 1 to 4 days per week. Recommended Timelines, Maps , or a Composition Book maybe available. See individual courses for more details. Timelines are cardstock and include the figures referenced in the study. Students will need to color, cut and assemble the timeline and figures. History and geography come alive with these well done literature guides. See our website for required books for each guide. Some guides and resources contain Christian content while others do not; contact us for additional information.
Two courses here, at different grade levels. Teaching a Providential view of America's story, and using a Literature approach, these guides break down the study into daily lesson plans, spanning the Vikings to the Civil War (1000 A.D. to 1865). Students keep notebooks of their work throughout the year. Lesson plans include various activities to correlate with the study as students "read" their way through history, consuming some of the best age-appropriate historical literature. Newly revised guides are expanded and now in full color. They also include web links, comprehension questions, character studies and more activities.
