Combining Dave Ramsey’s high energy with the practical experiences of his team, this revised homeschool edition of Foundations in Personal Finance equips high schoolers for financial success!

Divided into 13 chapters, students learn personal finance, understanding your money personality, budgeting basics, the importance of savings, understanding credit and debt, how to be a smart consumer and consumer rights, career preparation with basic information on resumes and interviewing, entrepreneurship, college planning, banking and financial services, insurance, income and taxes, housing and real estate, investing and retirement, generosity, and global economics.

There are two components for this course: a printed Student Worktext and the Online Digital platform with streaming video lessons and teacher resources. The consumable Student Worktext offers guided notetaking for video lessons, text readings, analyze and reflect questions and short answer journaling questions. Each chapter concludes with a review section with fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice and summary questions. The worktext is visually appealing, with ample white space and colorful illustrations. It also includes a web link and unique code to access the digital component. There is no religious content in the Student Worktext.

Offering one-year access that begins when you activate it, the Digital Platform is divided into a Teacher and Student section. For the student, online video lessons, additional activities (2 per chapter), and chapter review and tests (auto graded) are easy to navigate and allow for independent learning. The Teacher section includes the printable Pacing Guide, end notes, glossary, worktext answers, additional activity pdfs (with answers), family discussion ideas, case studies, scripture references and topical devotions, and a printable certificate of completion. Worth mentioning, the devotions and scripture references are completely optional to be used at the parent’s discretion.  There is also a bonus 90-minute documentary, Borrowed Future (with Teacher Resources), that explores the student loan industry. Each student will need their own worktext and digital platform. Please note that the books are non-returnable, due to the unique download codes printed in each book.

As a mom who required the previous edition of this course as a prerequisite for homeschool graduation, I applaud the Ramsey team for keeping personal finance practical and current for today’s young people. Provides young people (and their parents!) the knowledge necessary for financial success! ~Deanne
