Description
You don’t have to be a nature study expert to
enjoy this unit study with your children! This Five in a Row Nature Study
does not follow the same format as the Five in a Row program (reading a
book for 5 days and doing activities centered around the book). Instead, it
walks you through ways to study nature and brings poetry, art, music, and
literature into your explorations. She begins by giving you some great tips on
nature journaling with different age groups and explains the importance of
nature walks and how to take successful walks in fall and winter. Then she
lists some valuable resources for nature study and journaling, including
seasonal fall and winter Five in a Row titles. There are a
trove of book ideas and field guides to choose from that will enhance your
study (but there are not activities centered around these books). The book is
organized by taking you through fall (then winter) nature studies. Different
study topics include observing animals, insects, birds, reptiles, trees &
plants, weather & skies, poetry, rocks, art & artists, and music.
Suggested activities are also included. The author reminds us how we can see
God in these seasons. Reproducible decorated journaling pages (for family use
only) are included with each season. You can also keep a list of birds, trees,
and insects with their location on the blank pages in the back of the book.
