This text is
intended for one semester of Civics study with the goal to teach young minds
about American Government and become well informed Christian citizens. Land
of Fair Play establishes a playground analogy and overlays that with
governmental theory. This analogy helps students understand the roles, laws,
and expectations of the government. Chapters take a progression from
understanding the overarching government structure to your local offices. Resources
and ideas for your students include contacting your local state
representatives, examining local and state ballots, state yearbooks, and more.
They encourage you to add supplemental items as you have time or when it seems
appropriate. Each chapter concludes with Questions on the Text section and
Questions for Further Study to facilitate comprehension and retention. Graphics
are scattered throughout the text to bring context to what students are
reading. The six appendices in the back are additional pools of great
governmental knowledge. While designed for 8th graders, this also
can be an option for a remedial government course in high school. 186 pgs, pb. ~Rebecca
