Bible Friends Activity Book
This resource is not just an activity book! Many of this book's 115 pages are so nicely printed in full color, your child may want to post them on the fridge when the activity is complete. Activities include dot-to-dots, coloring, tracing, decoding messages, creating Creation and Noah's Ark booklets—and more. Use this activity book to reinforce Bible content. Bible Friends also coordinates with the Abeka® Grade 1 Bible Curriculum. Students commonly complete 3-5 pages weekly after the lesson time and learn how to apply Bible concepts. pb. ~ Ruth
Give your child delightful activities to help him internalize Bible truths with this 115-page activity book! Reinforce the lessons taught in the Bible lesson by having children color pictures, complete dot-to-dot pictures and mazes, decode a secret message, and create a Creation booklet and Noah's Ark booklet. By doing activities with their hands, children will be more likely to remember the lessons taught to them. Also included are small thought-provoking assignments such as listing things they are thankful for or thinking of things Bartimaeus may have seen after having his vision restored. Pages are correlated with the Homeschool First Grade Bible Curriculum.
This spiral curriculum progressively helps students learn (and memorize) major Bible content and key Scriptures (KJV), Christian doctrine, and the plan of Salvation. Each year's study systematically overviews key characters, events, and concepts from the Old and New Testaments. Teachers are given plentiful guidance: lesson plan helps and procedures; nearly scripted lessons; reproducible tests (with answers); and more. Most student learning and review work is oral, with periodic testing. Typically, the approximate 30-minute, 4-day-per-week plan begins the first half of each lesson with the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem, then a variety of songs (hymns, choruses, and more, aided by the included grade-level music CD). Next, comes Scripture memory and review (sometimes from previous years), other Bible concept drills (depending on the grade), and prayer.
The second half is the topic-focused Bible lesson. The Flash-a-Card® stories serve as each lesson's hub. Although quantity and print format vary per level, these full-color illustrated Bible stories offer students a visual while you provide the lesson.
Each grade simultaneously introduces new material while periodically spiraling back on specific units from previous years, with the goal of deepening children's Biblical understanding. So, you'll note some periodic repetitive use of card story sets, typically repeating some units every other year. However, some sets are used annually: the Crucifixion and Resurrection; the Salvation Series (used in K5 - Grade 6), and the Life of Christ Stories series of 5 sets (used in all but 5th and K4). You can, however, start Abeka® Bible at any level since kits will include each year's lessons and materials.
Grades 5-6 kits maintain the teaching methodologies and focus begun in previous levels. At these grades only "classroom" style kits are available, but they're still appropriate for home school use. These pictorial Flash-a-Cards® sets, made of sturdy 12"x15" cardstock, are stored in a protective vinyl case, providing group teaching options and many years of use. In addition, you'll receive a Sing to the Lord songbook and CD, a spiral bound Curriculum Plan, and Sword Drill books (providing children practice using their Bibles). The kit for Grades 5 or 6 comes in a large storage box, protecting your Bible curriculum.
The K4 - grade 4 kits are homeschool editions: these 8 1/2"x 11" pictures and detachable lesson guides are stored in a book format. Kits include a level of the Sing Unto the Lord song CD (Scripture songs, choruses, and hymns), the curriculum, and the illustrated Flash-a-Card®. Grades 3, 5, and 6 add a spiral-bound songbook with simple piano arrangements, lyrics, an index, and grade-level indications. See our website for grade level specifics. ~ Ruth

The Abeka Bible Grade 1 will closely follow the K5 stories utilizing the twelve (12) Flash-a-Card® sets. Students will enjoy the narrative approach to Bible stories about Jesus, creation, Old Testament patriarchs, and the life of Paul. Students will dig a little deeper in their understanding and comprehension of these Bible stories. Lesson guides are included with each set of cards with detailed prompts. The First Grade Bible Curriculum guide details the Scope and Sequence, memory verses, and lesson plans. This is the resource to help teachers plan their Bible studies for the year. The kit will include the Sing unto the Lord 1 CD to teach 63 biblically-based songs and hymns, aiding understanding of Jesus’ love through the power of song. Correlating with the Bible 1 program, (but also feasible to use independently), is the Bible Friends Activity Book. Filled with pages of colorful activities, character traits, and bible stories, students will be interacting with their Bible knowledge throughout. If you are moving into the Abeka Bible Grade 1 from K5, you simply need to add the Life of Paul Series 1(083312) to your Flash-a-Card® sets, the First Grade Bible Curriculum guide (022192), and the Sing unto the Lord CD (044041).
