Description

Used in conjunction with teacher demonstration, verbal cues, practice, and specifically designed multisensory tools, this Kindergarten level starts students with capital letters, introducing letters in groups by how they are written. Students will be taught letter discrimination by using the wood pieces to form letters, and then recreate them using the slate and the chalk pieces. The specially designed pencil (the size of a golf pencil) and small chalk bits teach students the proper grip. This is one student consumable. Complete packages of teacher and student are available. Lessons start with the simplest form—capital letters first—grouped together by how they are formed. This volume contains 36 pages focused on capitals. Then, students move to learning lower case. By year’s end, students are tracing an individual letter (both in upper and lower case) in provided sentences. The strongly recommended Teacher Book guides parents in using the unique methodology and provides step-by-step lessons, along with reading and writing connections. The easily identifiable teaching directions are scripted. Using the Teacher Book along with the student text and manipulatives is strongly recommended. Using the student consumable, students will learn proper hand grip and letter formation. The necessary manipulatives include the Letters to Words Blackboard Set;13 wood pieces with mat; the blackboard with double lines; slate chalkboard with chalk bits; little sponge cubes; the pencil for little hands; and teaching songs (available for free on YouTube®). Other manipulative options such as the Magic C Bunny Puppet are also available. You can add these options in, depending on your student’s need.
