The Raceway workbook includes grammar and creative writing as well as letter recognition, sequencing, phonemic awareness, phonics practice, manuscript writing, reading, comprehension and spelling. Designed to be used following initial letter and sound recognition, this workbook will work well as a stand-alone or as a follow-up to the two SSRW Kindergarten workbooks (All Aboard and On Track). Recently reprinted, this 1998 edition is spiral-bound. The workbook pages have a smooth texture, and you may note some of the pages are fuzzy (especially the Language Arts Raceway at the front of the book). While there are references to the SSRW songs, there is currently no professionally done audio available for purchase. There are, however, YouTube® versions of these songs available. The Phonetic Storybooks referenced in some lessons are no longer available, however, the workbook will still be usable without their inclusion.

The full-color decodable storybooks cover all 36 steps and provide great practice for the student to develop his new reading ability. Playing the games is another fun reinforcement activity to ensure real understanding of the phonetic skills.
