Kids love bugs, and Fandex puts them right in your hands—like the bombardier beetle, which can spray its enemies with a boiling hot chemical fluid, or the tiny, pesky flea with its impressive ability to jump 100 times its size—the equivalent of a human being able to leap to the top of a 45-story building. And this deck has a special bonus: In "Learning from Nature" sidebars, kids learn how bugs inspire inventions in the fields of medicine, engineering, and even programming.
This resource was created to make the well-known Fandex Family Field Guides more kid-friendly. So, if you have young ones who love the outdoors, Fandex Kids is sure to be your child's go-to resource for learning! If you are unfamiliar with the popular Fandex Field Guides, you are in for a real treat. Providing a fan-like index with a picture and information (like a field guide), the handy Fandex guides are perfectly suited to hold and read! Instead of opening it like a book, you fan out the cards to access the "page" you need. Cards are secured at the bottom so no worries about loose cards! The tops of the cards are individually and ingeniously die-cut, providing an illustration of the card's topic. The body of each card contains the animals name, size, habitat, and interesting facts about the particular subject. Each deck also offers a fun fact (called "Fin Facts" in the Ocean deck). Because information is contained on the front and back of each card, there's actually quite a bit of information – the rough equivalent of a small field-guide page. Also included are cards providing a general introduction, topic specific information and a glossary. Includes a total of 53 heavy cardstock cards, measuring approximately 9" x 3".
