If you've been looking for a Charlotte Mason-inspired approach to learning Spanish, then you've come to the right place! Fun Spanish is a workbook that teaches beginners Spanish, one phrase at a time. This workbook introduces an average of five new words daily in the context of a "fun" sentence for students to copy, memorize, and illustrate. Each lesson appears on a two page spread. The left hand side of the page has verb conjugation exercises, a short vocabulary list, and a sentence in English to translate into Spanish. The right hand page has a Spanish sentence to copy, followed by three-quarters of a page of white space for students to draw a picture. Four lessons per week follow this format, followed by a verb conjugation review. (Verb conjugation reviews consist of conjugation exercises, English-Spanish vocabulary translations, and translating sentences.) Teacher helps include a suggested weekly schedule, memorization suggestions, and a brief grammar review/reference. Seventeen weeks of lessons are included, with answer keys following each set of weekly lessons. Not reproducible, pb. ~ Lisa
Nice thick book that teaches verb conjugation and nouns and has kids draw a picture of a silly sentence. I didn't feel like there was enough practice of the words on the pages, but other Spanish workbooks focussed on nouns and left out verb conjugation. So what I did was got a blank notebook and wrote my own sentences for my child to practice translating, using the words taught in this book.

I used this book with my 9y old 3rd grader There would be no problem with using this for 2nd grade I do think some exposure to vocabbefore using this book might be best Up until this point the books we had used for Spanish were mostly Vocab This proved to be the perfect transition to writing and putting verbs together correctly We did one lesson every two weeks and that made it last the full year I love how it taught verbs and mixed the vocab My daughter also enjoyed creating the funny pictures each week I feel like this is a child friendly approach to Spanish Grammar There was nothing overwhelming I will suggest that you make vocab cards of some kind as it is presented in the lessons I just wish there was another book!
