It's nice to be able to order new worksheets while re-using my teacher materials as my kids age up and roll through the Saxon curriculum.

Decent program
I liked the program. I thought it was well laid out. I only give it 4 stars because compared to our current program it was worksheet heavy. I was disappointed with the publishers customer service- as their placement test failed us and we ordered a level below what we should have and it was good luck contact the seller. Luckily Rainbow Resources has great customer service and I was able to fix the problem with minimal headache.

Saxon Math is the best!!!
Love this set! My daughters private school uses this curriculum and they are one year ahead of their peers! Homeschooling now due to COVID and find it very to use! Self explanatory. Didnt need to buy the teachers edition.

My daughter's favorite!
My daughter's favorite subject is math thanks to Saxon's hands-on approach to early elementary mathematics. We are very satisfied with this program!

Love Saxon
After seeing the progress of my first child, it was worth it to stick with Saxon. I did it with my second child and the prof is in the pudding. The repetition of concepts and built in review will make your childs stronger math student.

We already own the teacher's guide from my older child's 2nd grade year. These are the consumables that I need for my current 2nd grader.

I love Saxon to teach Math. It does a great job of always reviewing the concepts so they get into long term memory.

I've used Saxon with all my three homeschooled children and love it. I like the repetition of concepts.

I have two children in the same grade, so one does the front of the sheet, the other does the back of the sheet.

Do these workbooks contain the tests (assessments) that are given after every 5 lessons?
Yes, these workbooks contain tests (assessments) every 5 lessons. It's helpful to have these tests right between the lessons and not in a separate book to go looking for.

Hi! I have the Math 2 Home Teacher's Edition manual. I need to purchase the workbooks but was wondering if the publication dates were compatible. Do the worksheets in the workbook match? My manual has a 1994 publication date. Would that match the 1991 published workbooks?
Yes, they will match.

Is this the homeschool edition (i.e., the same workbooks in the home study kit that are not common core aligned)?
Erika P
I'm not exactly familiar with the home study kit, but this workbook is used for the homeschool edition of saxon 2 (teacher edition attached below). It is not specifically common core aligned, although I understand that some changes will be coming, as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has purchased the Saxon curriculum. I hope someone else has more insight to add!

I have math for older kids and it came with the answers to all the drills and practice questions. Does this set come with those?
The answers to the workbook pages are in the teacher's manual. However, the math is very basic and easy to figure the answer without a key. I appreciate the explanation of each lesson that the teacher's manual presents. I have used it with 3 children with good results.

Can my 2nd grader start the 2nd grade Saxon math after being in public school the last two years?
I'd imagine that an average 2nd grade math student would be able to jump right in. There's some review of previously learned concepts. Additionally, the idea with this program is not that you know everything before you move on, but that you are introduced to a topic and continue to practice it. Mastery will come with time, and lessons build on each other incrementally, logically, and with lots of practice and parent involvement.

I would like to not have to buy the entire kit...I know that "it's worth it" to get the whole kit, but I truly cannot afford the extra if I can just use the workbooks at this grade level and can improvise for manipulatives and such. Are the workbooks straightforward enough to not need a textbook or teacher's book at the second grade level? Thank-you
It is possible to use the student workbooks independently from the teacher guide, but I would truly recommend borrowing the teacher book from someone else or checking it out from the library. The language used in the lessons is really good and used in Saxon Math 3.
