Easy Grammar Grade 6
“I’m understanding grammar for the first time in my life!” This is the testimony of many homeschooling moms when they use Easy Grammar with their students. Students start by learning a list of prepositions. Then, by identifying and crossing out prepositions and prepositional phrases, students can see the core of each sentence. Concepts are presented in small, understandable increments, followed by plenty of practice. Each grade level book (teacher book) is a complete grammar course with ample, effective teaching strategies, workbook pages, and assessments (tests) all between two covers. It’s convenient and takes no teacher preparation time. It’s easy to understand why everybody wins with this amazing grammar program. Students learn grammar completely and thoroughly through easy-to-understand teaching segments and lots of enjoyable practice and can do much of the work independently. Teachers/moms are not burdened with hefty prep demands. Correcting/grading is easy, requiring a minimum of teacher time. The workbook pages and tests are reproducible for families, although you will probably want to purchase the student workbooks because of the sheer volume of copying involved (200-300+ pages). Tests can be reproduced from the teacher book or a test booklet purchased for convenience.
Revised in 2007, these effective and user-friendly courses are even better. The program retains all of its strong characteristics providing complete coverage of parts of speech, types of sentences, capitalization, and punctuation. Books are now grade specific (starting in grade 3) with pre- and post-assessments and sentence writing units added to each level. Workbooks the workbook pages (also included in the teacher’s book), the rules pages/teaching segments, and a writing section. The test booklets contain copies of all of the tests including both the pre- and post-assessment tests for the grade level. Grade 3 (revision of former grades 3-4) introduces 28 prepositions and the process of deleting prepositional phrases. Grade 4 (revision of former grades 4-5) introduces 40 prepositions. The sentence writing units for grades 3 and 4 are similar, covering items in a series and appositives. Grade 5 (a new text), Grade 6 (revision of former grades 5-6), and the revised Easy Grammar Plus each introduce 53 prepositions. The writing units in both grades 5 & 6 cover appositives, semicolon use, and compound sentences, and grade 6 continues with subordinate clauses and introductory participial phrases. The Plus course now includes expanded coverage of independent and dependent clauses. The revised version includes all of the original material with the writing and assessment additions. Also included in each teacher book is a Daily Grams “sampler” -- the first ten days from the same grade Daily Grams. In case you’re wondering, it is possible to use an older teacher book with a new student workbook. The student book will include the new writing exercises without answers, but all of the other workbook answers are available from the older teacher books. Since the pre/post assessments are only available in the new teacher book (w/answers) or the test booklet (w/o answers), an older teacher book will be missing those items.
The Easy Grammar: Grade 2 Daily Guided Teaching and Review is a revision of Daily Guided Teaching and Review (Daily Grams) 2/3 and contains some material from the previous book along with new material. It is organized like the Daily Grams with daily worksheets; however, unlike the Daily Grams, which are solely practice worksheets, these worksheets also contain brief, introductory grammatical instruction. As such, they are considered the first of the Easy Grammar series rather than part of the Daily Grams series. There is no test booklet for this level. ~ Janice

We LOVE Easy Grammar! Our friend, a private school teacher, told us about EG when I was discussing my daughter's 'meltdown' that ocurred when using Abeka. We truly hit a wall. She LOVES Easy Grammar. I even understand grammar now! We originally only purchased the TE, but ended up purchasing the student text so we could copy the TE page if needed for extra review. We love Easy Grammar...and now feel like we can tackle Abeka again, (in conjunction with EG) because we have rebuilt her confidence level tremendously!
Thank you EG!

Our first experience with Easy Grammar was when we used it in our first year of a home school co-op. My daughter was in 6th grade and had decided that she hated grammar. We had several years of tears and frustration with another grammar, and had finally taken a year off completely from the subject.
Easy Grammar made the subject more manageable. It is very systematic, which helped her understand sentence parts and structure.
My son started Easy Grammar in 3rd grade and has loved it ever since. My daughter, now entering 10th grade, commented that grammar would have been easier for her if she had done Easy Grammar from the beginning!
I am sold on Easy Grammar.

Easy Grammar Plus has been a real blessing for my son! Years of trying to learn grammar using diagramming were fruitless and frustrating for him. Enter Easy Grammar Plus! He just had to learn to simply remove prepositional phrases and the rest seemed to fall into place. Within just a few lessons, the light bulb turned on and he quickly understood everything the other programs had been trying to teach. The lessons are quick and easy to complete and they aren't the least bit overwhelming for him. He actually does his grammar lessons first because they're fun for him now! I purchased both the workbook and teacher's edition, which I highly recommend. This way, when we come across a topic that he doesn't quite get at first, the teacher edition allows me to photocopy that particular lesson and give him more practice. Easy Grammar is a great value. I plan to keep my teacher's edition to use for later years as a quick and effective review when he needs it. I just can't say enough good things about this program!

(Please do not print my full name.) I tried lots of different grammar curriculums over the years (A Beka, Bob Jones, Winston Grammar, Shurley Grammar) with my dyslexic student, and this is the one that really enabled her to learn grammar. There is sufficient review of each topic. Although I am willing to do lots of teaching myself, she mostly learned the material from this easy to understand book. I did no teacher preparation. Learning to eliminate the prepositional phrases eliminates a lot of mistakes at the outset. Easy Grammar teaches one thing at a time. For example, if the student is to circle adjectives, the sentence is not full of adverbs, which would be confusing. When teaching indirect objects, they have the helpful idea of telling the student that the word \"to\" could be used instead. (\"Give me the ball.\" or \"Give the ball to me.\" In the first sentence \"me\" is an indirect object.) They explain simply how to distinguish between \"to\" used as a preposition and \"to\" used as an infinitive. The explanations are simple and clear.

Easy Grammar is such a blessing! Two of our children were struggling in another grammar program when we switched to Easy Grammar. Both were able to understand object of the preposition, direct and indirect objects, and so much more after we put them in Easy Grammar. What was so amazing is how much they retained after using this only one year. Nothing else had made grammar make sense the way this program did.
I would recommend Easy Grammar to anyone looking for a painless way to teach grammar.

As a homeschooling mother of 4, in my humble opinion, Easy Grammar is the foremost grammar program. From the outset, eliminating prepositional phrases was a paramount step in the understanding of grammar, as well as effective writing for my children. We use Institute for Excellence in Writing and having memorized the prepositional phrases, as well as learning to identify the other parts of speech for Easy Grammar helped them to easily add "dress-ups" to their papers. There is ample practice and instruction is to the point. I find there is minimal preparation on my part. I have found it preferable to other programs for imparting a working knowledge of grammar in the children, learning more than I had thought they would. It is well worth the money paid.

My son is an auditory learner and is at different levels in the many areas of language arts. Easy Grammar has been easy to use. The lessons are short and to the point. He is retaining the information well. Teacher prep is minimal, it did take a few look-throughs when I purchased the book to understand the layout. We purchased the teacher book, student book and test book, which was a good value. We will continue to using Easy Grammar products in the future.

This series, in my opinion, is by far the most non- frustrating grammar program available. We are a home school family of 12 years. My children were so thrown off course when I would try to change up a year here and there by using a different English Curriculum. They "grasp" grammar with ease using this WONDERFUL program. Isn't that our goal?

I'm so happy to have finally tried Easy Grammar! After trying other programs that required a lot of teacher preparation and figuring out, it is truly wonderful to be able to pick up the book, see exactly where we left off, and go from there. The concept is given at the top of the page with examples, making it easy for me to know what all needs to be explained/taught. And the workbook style enables me to teach and go; my daughter can do the rest of the page while I'm doing other things. We will definitely continue with Easy Grammar.

I just want to say that I agree with everything these other reviewers said. I had been homeschooling for years, but could never find a grammar "curriculum" that was easy to understand, that I could also use for all my children. This is by far, the best I have ever seen. I just wish I was taught this way!

For the first time in years, my daughter has enjoyed grammar. This will be our second year using this program - she specifically asked to use Easy Grammar again. I was impressed last year with the well thought out program. This year I was even more impressed as I realized how much my daughter actually retained and continues to apply!
