This book offers students an introduction to 22 different composers' lives and music. Four pages are devoted to each composer. The first and second pages give a picture, informative biography, life dates, interesting facts, a chart showing what genres of music they composed, and a timeline of what is going on in the world at this time so you can fit the composers into their proper places in history. The biography is a page long and very interesting, offering glimpses into each composer's lifestyle, personality, living conditions, and successes and failures. A CD accompanies the book, containing a piece by each of the composers studied. The third page in each composer's section focuses on the included piece of music, giving a short history and other related information. The last page offers several review questions about the composer. In the back of the book are a few pages of questions for all the composers for additional review. All the answers are included in the back of the book. Featured composers include Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, John Philip Sousa, Claude Debussy, Charles Ives, Igor Stravinsky, and almost all of the well-known musicians (Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Brahms, Verdi, Dvorak, etc.) - Melissa
