We are using the lapbooks for the first time this year and we are hooked! My kids have fallen in love with science all over again! The lapbooks CD's contain a lot more than you think and it is very thorough. They have instructions on what materials you may need, how to assemble the lapbook, what lesson each item is in and where to find it in the corresponding book! They have one copy in black and white and one color copy, in case you want more color or your child doesn't want to do all the coloring OR you can mix and match! The lapbooks give the kids more hands on than just answering questions or writing answers down as well. They get to cut, paste, color, write and look at it every time they do science. So since it is more sensory they will be able to retain more. They will even take it down to look at it when we aren't even working on science! There are several "minibooks" (a minibook is just what it sounds like a small book where you can turn the pages or it will come out like an accordion and other such ideas!) that are used throughout the lapbook which allows it to pack even more information in. The kids get to write in the appropriate information and then place it in the lapbook. Knowledge Box has made lapbooks for every level of science up to Physical Science and my daughter (who is doing general science) wants to keep doing them! Knowledge Box also has several other lapbooks for history and other subjects which we are going to use as well. These are a must for your Apologia science!
