Description

We have had numerous requests for Horizons manipulative kits over the years, so here they are! When choosing which manipulatives to include in each kit, we decided to incorporate the items most used at each level that are not common household items (like construction paper and a measuring cup). The Horizons program heavily utilizes flashcards for drill, and while many of these flashcards are included, we also have provided blank index cards so you can create some of the more specialized flashcards yourself. All of the manipulatives are also available separately - please see our Saxon manipulative section, or Manipulative-Based Instruction for more thorough descriptions of individual items. We have opted not to include Judy Clocks or Teaching Clocks because although recommended in some lessons, they are used fairly infrequently. Demonstrations suggested for use with larger clocks can also be shown on smaller student clocks.

Shipped Partially
I would have cancelled this if I had known it wasn't going to be shipped as a set but come in here and there. Very unhappy with this purchase.

Great package
Great package, overall. There were some items I didn’t personally like, but other than that, I’m grateful for this package! It has saved me a lot of time trying to find the items on my own.

Why did you choose this?

math curriculum

To go with my Horizon math books that I am using for homeschooling

It was requested in my group for using with the curriculum.

Have used Math U see in the past, but my son is very hands on and has trouble with workbooks, so wanted to try something different

Please could I have the break down of individual items included in this set?

There is a list of all included components under the description tab. It may not be visible on a mobile device but is readily available when viewed on a computer browser.

Am I understanding correctly that everything in this kit and this price, includes both the Grade 1 AND the Horizons Kindergarten kit as well?

That is not quite correct. This kit includes all the manipulative items you need for Horizons 1st grade course. The items included are listed on the website but it is a little confusing because some are identified as K-1 Add-On items. This is a subset of the set - the items needed for 1st grade that were not included in the K kit. There are a few additional items such as two-color counters that are needed for K that are not in this kit. If you need a kit for both the K and 1st grade levels, I suggest you get the K kit (#HZNKAD) and the K-1 Add-On Kit (#HZNKAD). For the record, none of these manipulatives kits include the course materials (i.e. workbooks and teachers manuals).
