Overall, my favorite writing books
I like that this book is fun without being too silly or entertaining, and that the letters are a little trimmer than the ball and stick type (and who uses the latter as his printing anyhow?) The only thing I don't like is that the books have a lot of empty space, which means wasted paper and expensive for the amount of practice in them. If we didn't all enjoy them so much, I'd use something more economical.

Love this workbook
Love using this to help my ASD son with handwriting. It introduces each letter gently with instructions on how to start. It's helping his hand become stronger.

Great introductory writing program
Perfect introduction for my kinder to learn the correct way to write. Very simple and straightforward instructions. We don’t use the manipulatives but she’s still able to grasp the concepts quickly.

Easy to teach, easy to apply!
Handwriting Without Tears is our favorite writing curriculum. This book is the follow up to the first kindergarten book. Easy to use and no need for a teacher manual.

Best handwriting curriculum I've found. Just discovered Handwriting Without Tears with my 3rd child. Now using it with all three kids and will also with my 4th, once she is old enough.

Great handwriting book for beginning handwriting!
This is my second time using this book and it really works. This time around I got the teachers manual. You can do without it but it does offer more ideas and structure that is really helpful for me. My girls love doing this book and ask to do it. It is simple to follow and very effective at teaching letter and number formation. I love the concept of "frog jump" capitals. Fun book to do, easy, simple and effective.

Good for my left handed son
My son is left handed and easily frustrated with fine motor. He also gets a lot of his writing attempts backwards. This book is actually tolerable for him. The cues, like frog jump, are a less irritating ways to cue, and the amount of repetition is not overwhelming. He is taking pride in his letters for the first time.
Heads up - it wants some manipulatives (small chalkboard and letter sticks) but I used materials I have at home

Good practice
I like that this book includes practice on lowercase, uppercase letters, and whole words. We are using it along side the Get ready for the code a, b, and c books.

Amazing
This program is amazing as all the hype. My kids struggled with handwriting before we switched, also they hated handwriting and we had tried a couple other programs. I will definitely be sticking with handwriting without tears for all my kids. It’s funny when people accidentally call it handwriting with tears. lol because it’s a easy mistake and couldn’t be further then the truth. We just use the book and chalk board.

Why did you choose this?

I like the simplicity of forming the letters.

This the third kid I'm using this for. It works great, especially for lefties! The frame on the chalk board makes it difficult to invert letters. The coloring also helped my dyslexic son learn his…

Handwriting without tears is a go-to for my home. My kids have beautiful penmanship and the songs lighten the mood of a tedious subject.

Great curriculum for communicating how to form letters.
